Totally Gross Birthday Atomic Worms!

This was by far my most favorite thing of the birthday party- Atomic Worms. I ordered a science kit from Steve Spangler Science and it was lots of fun! The boys loved it!

I bought a classroom kit of Atomic Worms. This is actually an experiment with polymers, but we used it to just make gross worms. I tried to explain why it did what it did, but no one really cared.

Who can make the longest worm?

Emi made an awesome pink one!

The birthday boy and his creation!

They were so proud!! I really did have a great time doing this party and I'm so thankful I had great friends who helped out. We also had a lot of moms and dads stay and help as well. I love that I live in a place where dads come too. How cool is that? Pretty darn cool if you ask me!!

Totally Gross Birthday Cupcakes!

So, we planned for Carter's birthday to be an inside party, but we got a day of freakishly warm weather, so we moved the party outdoors. Carter lives outside so this was a super fun thing for him to have an outside party. I was a little embarrassed of my yard. In Oregon nothing looks too spectacular outside in January.

Instead of birthday cake we had a "Grossest Cupcake" contest. Each boy was given a cup full of stuff to decorate a cupcake with.

Carter eating away. He chose his beautiful attire for the day. I figured it was his birthday, so I'd let it be. I still can't figure out why sport short and muscle shirts are his first choice. Drives me crazy!!

 Yummy!!

 Ahhhhhh!!!!

 Cupcake Monster!!

The boys also decided to go play in the backyard while we were setting up for the next event. How fun to be able to have 17 of your friends playing in your secret fort!!

They got the grand tour and then the wood gathering started.

Do you know how long it takes to fill your entire play structure with wood? Not very long when 17 little munchkins are busy working. This little guy was for sure the hardest worker of them all!! Cracks me up!!

Totally Gross Birthday Games!

We started the party off by playing the dirty diaper game. I took food items and smeared them in diapers and then numbered the diapers. Then gave the kids a card with pictures of the foods and the numbers. They had to draw a line matching the number to the correct food that they thought was in the diaper. It was pretty funny. I think too many of them had younger siblings in diapers because they were pretty disgusted by this game and I think it didn't move fast enough. Nonetheless, I was entertained!!

We also played dodge ball with skeleton head beach balls. Did I mention that there were 17 boys at this party???

And one poor sister who got dragged to the party along with her brother! LOL Good thing she's a tough cookie. She hung pretty well with the boys. Scott was in charge of this game and it quickly got crazy!

We played pin the booger on the nose. I found this funny poster of a horse's nose at Costco and then bought giant yellow sticky hands at the dollar store. We cut the fingers off so they looked like boogers.

The boys were all over the place with this and it was hilarious!

Some of them didn't even come close.

The sticky boogers soon turned into a try and throw the booger at the horse and then try to throw them on the ceiling game. Oh well!!

Eager anticipation listening for directions. I seriously love all of these boys! I really do love being a mom to a little boy and all the grossness and craziness that goes with it!!

Totally Gross Birthday!

Carter requested to have a Totally Gross birthday this year. We've never done a party at home because Carter's birthday is just after Christmas and quite honestly I'm pretty exhausted after Christmas. Carter's always been totally fine having it somewhere else. In the past we've had it at a gymnastics place, twice at a pool, and once at Chuck E. Cheese. This year Carter REALLY wanted a party at home, so I said I would do it. It turned out to be a lot of fun.

I decorated the table with toilets and rats. I had individual shot glasses with veggies and dips. We had fruit with booger colored dip and I even made dirty sock treat bags.

I put frozen hands in the punch instead of ice.

Lots of moldy pizza!

The rats were awesome! My poor mother-in-law almost had to leave these grossed her out so much. I still feel bad about that:( I also put cockroaches everywhere.

The dirty sock treat bags. I thought they turned out pretty cute. I dipped socks in cocoa and then filled them with candy ear wax, fake blood, fake vomit, and sticky eyeballs. The boys loved them! Thankfully my cute husband took pictures of all my hard work. I'm sure my cute friends reminded him!!
