Carter's Hot Chocolate Stand

Carter's Hot Chocolate Stand

I thought this was about the cutest thing I've ever seen. He was so excited to sell hot chocolate today. He helped carry out the table and all the cups of hot chocolate. He even cleaned the table.

Carter, "Mom, I need some rags to clean my table oss (off)."
Mom, "Okay, here you go."
Dad, "Carter, what are you doing?"
Carter, "Cleaning oss (off) my table. I don't want people to think I'm a dirty boy."

He worked at this for about 3 hours and made $5.00. So, our breakdown is as follows: table= $89.99, cups= $1.99, hot chocolate= $4.39, marshmallows= $1.29. This is a long term plan. Ha ha! We're going to have to sell a whole lot of hot chocolate to ever be profitable at this rate:) But it was sooooo worth it. I got tears in my eyes seeing how proud he was of what he accomplished!

Funny Things

Carter keeps us laughing constantly. I really should carry around a notepad all day long. Here's a few of his funny comments.

Carter, "Daddy, I miss Mommy. She's a really good mommy. She hasn't killed anybody- or anything."

We're driving in the car and Carter in his randomness says, "Mom, actually I need a wallet." "What? Why?" I say. "I actually just really need one because I have a lot of money." Come to think of it. I caught him getting into my wallet this morning. Hmmmm.....

Carter, "Mom, I need water." Me, "Why don't you go ask the guy at the register for a cup of water." Carter, "Well, I can't. I don't do that on Mondays." Me, "Well, it's your lucky day because it's Friday." Carter, "Well, I forgot to tell you, I don't do that on Fridays either."

Carter to me, "Come on you sweeeeet lady go on a bike ride with me." Can you imagine what he'll say to his dates????

Me after listening to Carter to whine for a very long time, "Carter go see what your dad says about this." Carter, "Mom, I'm not the boss of him you are."

Carter to our cleaning lady, "You are such a hard worker! You do such a GREAT job cleaning. You're going to clean my room right?"

His newest thing is setting up a hot chocolate stand. He's been begging us all week to let him sell hot chocolate. We threw out our little folding table because it was all gross, so we didn't have a table for him to use. I didn't have any hot chocolate mix or cups. So, Carter goes and gets a laundry basket and a paint bucket for his table and chair. He poured a bunch of mixes of Carnation Instant Breakfast into one cup and then went and got about 5 of his sippy cups. He was going to mix a big batch of Carnation Instant Breakfast in one cup and then put it in his sippy cups to sell. I thought it was quite clever of him. Needless to say, I spent all day Saturday looking for a table and buying supplies so he can set up his stand on Monday when the kids get off the bus from school. He's quite the little business man.

Carter's First Day of School

Carter's first day of school.

He loves going to school. We put him in two different preschools so he can go 4 days a week. He asked if he could go every day. So far he loves it and wishes he could be there all day. He's so social and enjoys learning. He LOVES to play. He wants friends to come over almost every hour of the day. We are so proud of what a good boy he is. It seems like yesterday that this little guy was placed in our arms and we became a family. We could not be more thankful to have him in our lives and cannot believe how big he is getting.

I swore my kid would never have a character shirt. I caved when he just had to have it for the first day of school. I still REALLY hate it though.

This week they learned the letter F. So, of course, they went on a field trip to the fire station. (I just happen to be the field trip coordinator.) The firemen are so fantastic out here. We've been a couple of times. They are so patient and willing to be with the kids.

This time was extra exciting because they got a call.
We got to watch all the firemen arrive and get ready to go.

They showed us how fast they can put on their gear and even let us hear them with the air on. Really cool.

After climbing in and out of the trucks and hearing the sirens and seeing the lights, we got to stand on the truck and get a picture. They even gave us all hats to wear. What great guys!

Yes, they are all boys!
It's crazy and we love it!

My Mom's Wedding

Most of you know that my dad died February 12, 2007. He and my mom had decided to go through the temple that year. They had their interview and set the date, but the next day my dad passed away. We were able to do his temple work and be sealed as family in June of 2007. On June 27, 2009, my mom was re-married. We now welcome her new husband, Steve, into our family with open arms and lots of love.

Poor Grandma had a black nose from my little darling, Carter, whacking his head into her. Oh well, at least it makes for a good story. Thank goodness for PhotoShop. It's not quite as noticeable. Sorry Mom! Know that it was done with love.

Here's a few pictures from their special day.

Me and my mom at her wedding.

My BFF, Jen. We've been best pals for 30 years. She's actually more like my sister. We love each other no matter what! I absolutely hate that we live so far away from each other.

My mom and brother, Clint.

The wedding party.
Notice Carter's foot. That was broken foot #1, cast #3. He was being paid $1 a day to not ruin it. Keeping him from destroying his cast nearly sent me over the edge. He was so very angry to have it on and he did not make my life very easy those 3 weeks. I tense up just writing about it:)

Summer Fun 2009

Grandma and Grandpa Steve picking blackberries along the river. They thought it was so cool that blackberries grew wild. They MUST be desert dwellers to think that:)

Carter feeding the ducks!
Before we noticed the "Please Do Not Feed the Ducks" sign. Oops!

Our adopted kitten, Lewis. We made it 3 days with him. He was more work than a newborn baby and that's totally not an exaggeration.

Carter and Lewis.
He liked the idea of a kitty, but not so much actually having one. Lewis went back with his brothers and sisters to someone who was willing to wake up every 3 hours and feed him, and clean him, and make sure his heating pad was on. Did you know that kittens do not have the ability to pee on their own. I rest my case!!

Carter picking peaches.

Mommy canned the peaches.

He still thinks he can take a bath in the kitchen sink.

Enchanted Forest with cousins.

Riding the boat by himself.

Carter rode the ferris wheel all by himself. He was so brave!

Grandpa letting Carter drive the tractor.

Swimming at the club.

More swimming.

Private swimming lessons in a 93 degree pool. He truly is my child:)

Doing the Elementary Backstoke alone. Just to brag a bit, when we put him in lessons they told me that there was no way a 3 year old would be able to swim the entire length of the pool alone. Guess who proved them wrong? Carter's done absolutely fantastic in swimming. His teachers constantly tell me how naturally gifted he is!! We're so proud!!

Broken foot #2. Actually turned out to be a bone bruise, but he had to be in a cast 3 weeks anyway.

He still likes to ride his trike. Still in a cast. He spent a total of 6 weeks in a cast. We went through 4 different ones:) It was a stressful summer to say the least!

U of O Game!
Our seats are right behind the visiting bench- for better and for worse:)

Carter bowling for the first time. He LOVED it!!
