Mud Monsters

Mud Monsters

This is the final part of the river- the lake. Carter and his buddies dug it out and filled it with water and were frequently found taking mud baths.

Notice how long the river is. It wraps completely around our little garden. I couldn't get it all in one picture.

Work, work, work!!
I'm not sure why all the Rubbermaid lids were necessary, but apparently they played a vital role in the making of this creation;)

Taking a break to just enjoy the mud pit!

I love seeing what their little minds come up with. I'm not sure what they're doing here.
I think one day everything in our backyard is just going to collapse into a giant sinkhole.

This is the rest of the river along the backside of our garden. It's pretty impressive.

Finally ready to get cleaned up!!
I'm so happy Carter loves to play outside and that he can have fun and be a boy.
I love that all the neighbor kids come over and dig in our backyard.
I do sometimes wish I had a beautiful yard, but I know one day I will miss the river running through all my potential flower beds. I'm so thankful my sweet husband lovingly fills in the holes when they get too deep.
And mostly I'm thankful that the motto in our home is that that we're raising a little boy not a lawn!!

Summer 2011

We had a great summer with lots of friends and family. Here's just a few pictures from my phone.

Scott took Carter to buy his first electric guitar. He loves it. He puts in the CD Scott recorded in law school and tries to play along. It's sooooo cute and sooooo loud!!!

Rock climbing for the first time. He was pretty brave.

Carter went off the high dive for the first time all by himself.

Bug boy!! He loves bugs, so we got him a bug vacuum and containers to store them in .
He's our little scientist.

Mud! Mud! Mud!
Carter's favorite thing is to build a river in the backyard and we have the water bill to prove it.
He works so hard and is so proud of his work!

Carter LOVES to drive!!

Carter LOVES to drive! His favorite things are his Peg Perego quads and he has THREE of them and we have bought NONE of them. Since he is the only grandchild on my side of the family he gets pretty much whatever he asks for and he has asked for a quad the last THREE Christmases and Grandma Niecie has delivered.

Carter and his dad love to rent dune buggies in Mexico. He had to have this one because of the flames. He picked it out on the first day we were there and that's all he could talk about for the rest of the trip!

Carter and his buddy, Kaden, sitting out in the front yard in lawn chairs like little old men. Notice they had to drive to get there! LOL

Carter with his car collection (like a little old man). He lines them up and admires them. I imagine one day he'll  line up his cars and drive around on a Segway instead of a big wheel.

Carter and Kaden being silly on the quads.
Carter especially loves trucks. Every time we get in the car he watches all the trucks on the freeway and has to tell me all about them. He is now into Duallies. He tells me all the time what his Dually will look like when he gets older- green with blue flames in case you were wondering and it will be called The Blue Flame. He begs Scott to buy a pickup truck and compares every truck to his Grandpa Con's- none of which are bigger according to Carter (he's slightly competitive). He is counting down the days until he turns 16, so he can officially drive. Yes, we hide our car keys.

He loves having his friends over to drive with him. He is quite the daredevil and sometimes I just have to close my eyes and know that he's a boy and the quads aren't heavy enough to crush him nor are they tall enough for him to really hurt himself if he falls off. Can you tell I have had a very in depth conversation with myself so I don't have an anxiety attack when he drives them down the two steps in our front yard or when he drives with one wheel on the curb and the other on the road?

Yep, he's boy!! We love it, but I would appreciate it if they would quit making Duallies, so I could have a much quieter drive to the grocery store:)
